If you are just getting into photography and need some tips and tricks it is important to find reliable information on a regular basis. In this series I will probably just post stuff as it occurs to me rather than lay out a step by step action plan.
Flowers and Static Objects
A good place to start is with things that, unlike people… don’t move!
When working with flowers or natural subject matter outside, start by making use of the available light and experimenting with the different effects you get from different angles.
Try to take your shots on sunny days and on overcast days carefully noting how each form of natural light affects the outcome such as the diffused light eliminating on a cloudy day or the stark shadows present on a sunny day.
Take a range of shots from varying distances and angles and note the effect each one achieves.
Start off by turning off your flash and using the camera’s controls to determine how the shot turns out, remeber the camera is a tool and the degree of success you will have is determined by how well you can learn to use the tool.
